4X18 - Prayer

J: When I met Einstein, I blipped to Bizarro Moya. Same Leviathan but different.
Bizarro Moya is a reference to Bizarro World created in a Superman comic. Bizarro World is an alternate universe where all the same people exist, Superman, Lois, Lex, etc, but they are all just a bit different. A site fan wrote in to same that the "Same Leviathan but different" line sounds like the intro to the tv show Sliders: "Same Earth, different dimensions."

Scorpius cuts John's finger and licks off the blood
J: What? Are we in the mob?
Scorpius then cuts his own finger and holds it up for John to lick
J: Nosferatu...first instinct is always right.
There's always rumors about members of the mob taking blood oaths. Again, Nosferatu refers to a very early vampire film. John called Scorpius Nosferatu first in Nerve, but here he is simply reaffirming his first impression of Scorpius as being correct. Scorpius is quite the bloodsucker.

Chiana and D'Argo are convinced that John's plan will end up screwing up reality again. John tries to reassure them that he has wormhole navigation down.
J: I've got this hum in my head, like a whale.
C: A whale? What's a whale?
J: You know what a fish is?
C: Fish?
J: Well, think big fish with sonar.
Sonar, which stands for "so(und) na(vigation and) r(anging)", is a method of echolocation used underwater. It is similar to radar but is used underwater. Whales use a type of sonar to located each other and other sea life. I imagine John is also thinking of the Humpback whales which emit series of hums, whistles, and clicks as a method of communication. Humpback whales also played a significant part in the movie "Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home." John is known to be a Star Trek fan.

John is making repairs to the module after being bounced out of the wormhole at the wrong time.
S: Ironic, wouldn't it be, if we were to die here together?
J: Yeah, we're a regular Romeo & Juliet. Damn, this spinning makes me feel like I'm drinking mescal. You got something like mescal? Drink the drink, eat the worm. I can see you eating a whole plate full of worms. Scorpius growls Maybe not.
Mescal is a Mexican liquor distilled from the fermented juice of certain species of agave. Apparently, like traditional tequilas, it is bottled with a worm in the bottom of the bottle. You have to be really drunk to eat the worm in the bottom of the bottle. Yuck!

J: My head's ringing like a firebell.

S: In this reality everyone has become someone they weren't before?
J: Like they went into a blender.
S: Why?
J: In the wormholes, anything is possible. Somewhere the Cubs are winning the World Series...Don't ask.
Blender, huh? Someone's thinking margaritas! The Cubs are an American baseball team from Chicago, Illinois. I'm assuming by John's tone that the Cubs haven't won a World Series in a very, very long time. I tried looking for a list of all previous World Series with who played and who won, but I couldn't find one on the official site, got irritated, and gave up. Thanks to site fans who wrote in about the Cubs. Apparently, the Cubs haven't even made it to the World Series in more than 50 years. It's been even longer since they won.
