2X07 - Home on the Remains

(John sneezes)
A: What’s the matter with you?
J: I don’t know. (rubs his nose) Ahh... I don’t know. I hope its not a cold... ‘cause I’m sure not gonna get any chicken soup on a Budong!
C: Look, I don’t know what 'Cheeken Zoop' is, okay? But there’s plenty of other food at the mining camp.
I'm sure Budong Zoop will fix John right up

(On Chiana's having left the budong in the past)
J: And they’re going to welcome the prodigal daughter home with a Thanksgiving meal.
The prodigal son is a Biblical parable about a father who welcomes home his wayward son with a huge feast. Thanksgiving is an American national holiday commemorating a meal held between the Pilgrims and local Native Americans to celebrate their cooperation toward the goal of survival. A large meal is traditionally served.

J: Fried Dentics. You can eat anything if it’s fried.
How true

(John offers a fried Dentic to Aeryn)
A: I’ll pass!
J: Suit yourself Jenny Craig, but I’m hungry.
For anyone who hasn't heard of Jenny Craig yet.....it's a weight loss program

J: Aeryn. We are out of supplies. We’re gonna become the ‘Donner Party’ of the uncharted territories if we don’t get some food soon.
The Donner Party were pioneers stuck in a pass near Truckee, California. Most of them starved to death, and those that didn't resorted to cannibalism.

J: (reacting to Chiana's new outfit) Shazam
From Captain Marvel comic series or it could be a reference to Gomer Pyle from television's The Andy Griffith Show (a show I never watched, but as one of our readers pointed out is something of a "Southernism" and John sure likes to use those).

B’Soog: You want food? Hand over your weapons.
J: Here you are marshal.
In the Old West, the town marshal would often confiscate weapons from gunslingers while they were inside the town boundaries.

J: (Rygel's about to head off to gamble) We’re here for Zhaan, Maverick, not games.
Maverick was a tv show in the 50s & 60s about a gambler.

J: (Bringing Zhaan some food) Hey Blue! Delivery. It’s not exactly Dominos, but it got here in less than 30 minutes.
It's not exactly pizza either

John: (Referring to B'Soog) You know what, Boudreau?
Can he pronounce anyone's name correctly? And in this one there might be a reference. We had someone write in and tell us that as a Southern Boy, John would probably have known a few Cajuns and would probably be familiar with "Boudreaux and Thibodeaux" jokes (B&T are used in place of "Two Cajuns walk into a bar ...")

J: Okay, no more Captain Kirk chit-chat.
Oh, yes.....a Star Trek reference...I'm completely fulfilled now.

Z: (enjoying her food) Mmm... It’s wonderful.
J: Yeah. Carolina Style Keedva. Best barbecue this side of a Budong.
(Rising from the table... and in a BBQ defining moment... he unsnaps his britches with an audible 'pop'... and winks!)
Z: Thank you, John. For everything.
J: Pleasure. Ya’ll dig in now.
