"Melrose Place" was a primetime soap opera created by Aaron Spelling of "Beverly Hills 90210" fame and ran from 1992-1999. Interestingly enough, Ben Browder had a small part, early in his career, in Melrose Place...so this might have been a nice 'in-joke' for the Farscape writers.
