John maneuvers the transport pod--
J: Ah, slicker’n snot.
A: My microbes had to have translated that one wrongly.
J: Southern metaphors, darlin’. You ain’t heard the half of ‘em.
Oh gracious....I hope I never hear them all...

A: Now, you do that one again and I’ll kill you.
J: Oh, sorry. I almost hit that big sun out there.
A: There’s nothing out there, John.
J: Exactly, Aeryn. That’s why we picked this spot. Nothing for me to hit. Perfect for a driving lesson like a big mall parking lot on a Sunday morning.
When I was learning to drive my mom took me to the mall parking lot early mornings or late in the evening. They are huge and empty which make them a perfect place to practice driving.

J: If you don’t count a broken neck. A couple of aspirin, I’ll be fine. We hit something.
A: No, we didn’t.
J: Hey, look. I was in a head-on when I was 19. We hit something.

J: I’m working as fast as I can, Aeryn, but these schematics are hard to read -- like half CAT-scan, half blueprint.
A CAT scan or CT scan is a technique in which multiple X-rays of the body are taken from different angles in a very short period of time. These images are collected by a computer to give a series of images that look like "slices" of the body.(courtesy of WebMD). A blueprint is a detailed set of plans for a building or other structure drawn up by an architect.

Aeryn is explaining to John how to use the kill shot--
J: Whoa, hold the phone. Let’s talk about this.
"Hold the phone" is an expression which means to wait a minute, usually used in situations where someone wants to do something crazy and you want a minute to consider how absolutely nuts they are.

J: You call that good odds? No. No, no, no. I’m gonna teach you CPR.
A: What’s that?
J: It’s a human resuscitation technique, Aeryn -- very low-tech.
A: What does it involve?
J: It involves you breathing for me -- keeping my blood flowing so I don’t die.
A: Don’t be ridiculous. It sounds far too complicated.
Here in the US, the Red Cross offers certification courses for cardiopulmonary resuscitation(CPR) and first aid.

J: Hey...when Sebaceans die, what do you believe happens? You believe in an afterlife? Heaven and hell? All that jazz? Humans believe...well, some believe...that there’s this bright light. And that you, uh, end up somewhere else along with your friends, family, relatives -- all the people who died before you. Does that ring a bell?

J: My god. You did it. You did it, Aeryn. But you lied like a dog. God, that hurt like hell.
