1X21 - Bone To Be Wild

John: Hey, don't forget, happy campers, the girl on the distress signal said "creature".

D: Zhaan, let me explain to you what's going on inside my nose right now. There's large pieces of green mucus gunk--
J: D'Argo. D'Argo. D'Argo. No, no, no, no. Stop it with the Luxan poetry.
This might be stretching a bit, but this struck me as a reference to 'Vogon poetry' from Hitchiker's Guide to the Galaxy by Douglas Adams. Vogon Poetry is the most notoriously bad poetry in the known universe (even worse than greeting card poetry). A "masterpiece" of Vogon poetry is "Ode to a Small Lump of Green Putty I Found in My Armpit One Midsummer Morning" by Master Grunthos the Flatulent. View the online Earth Edition of the Guide.

J: All right. One quick trip to the pharmacy coming up. Out the door, turn left at the creature.

About the miniaturization machine--
J: That is a very impressive machine. My aunt had one.
Hmmm, I wonder if she ordered it from Ron Ropeil.

To M'Lee--
J: Us southern boys don't make good eatin'. Not without a fight.

M'Lee: I need you to know the truth.
J: Is that before or after I supply your recommended daily allowance of calcium?
The recommended daily allowance of calcium is 1000 - 1200 milligrams according to WebMD.

J: Swamp thing here ain't the 'Mr. Rogers' scientist we thought he was.
Swamp Thing is the main character in a comic book, and later a tv series and movie, about a scientist who mutates into a creature half man/half swamp foliage. This is an extra in-joke since David Kemper once wrote an episode of the Swamp Thing tv series. Mr. Rogers' Neighborhood is a children's program in the US. Mr. Rogers is known as a children's advocate and a kind and gentle man.

J: M'Lee threw you a curve.
A curve ball is a tricky type of pitch in baseball.

J: M'Lee! Where are you, you little sack of spit?
Looks like the translator microbes are censoring John's swearwords again.

J: She's in a TEST TUBE, Jack.
A test tube is a piece of laboratory equipment used to hold specimens or chemicals for experimentation or testing.

Z: There is much cruelty in the universe.
J: Yeah, we seem to have a treasure map to it. Bon appetit.
