Vogon Poetry is the most notoriously bad poetry in the known universe (even worse than greeting card poetry). Swamp Thing is the main character in a comic book, and later a tv series and movie, about a scientist who mutates into a creature half man/half swamp foliage. This is an extra in-joke since David Kemper once wrote an episode of the Swamp Thing tv series. Mr. Rogers' Neighborhood is a children's program in the US. Mr. Rogers is known as a children's advocate and a kind and gentle man.
